Life Skills
Our Life Skills Program is based on USA's Ken Seeley's Intervention 911 USA model of care to provide an opportunity to expedite a person’s journey to living a happy life in recovery.
People experiencing addiction generally stop emotionally maturing at the age they start using. That being said, once a person undergoes treatment and starts to live life without drugs, they often have very limited basic life skills. There is a distinct difference between an individual being abstinent from drugs, alcohol and gambling, and an individual living a life in recovery. The Life Skills Program aims to address this difference. Our Life Skills Program helps develop long term client driven goals that are a part of our family program that builds on skills and skill deficit. this may include referrals to assist achieving individual goals that bring balance and hope for a more fulfilling recovery.
Case managers provide ongoing assessment to help improve individual’s behaviors, attitude and sense of achievement, with the overall goal to become accountable and productive members of their family and the Community.
Case managers collaborate with the person on core skills like scheduling their day, shopping, self-care, weekly budgeting support, and navigating daily struggles. Another key element of the program is fine tuning interpersonal communication skills and assisting the client in meeting their career and/or education goals. When possible we include family members in the planning process to ensure well developed plans, including recovery plans for all involved.
The life skills program is really a complete lifestyle overhaul that focuses on emotional growth with an emphasis on responsibility and accountability and can make all the difference for the client’s success with personal growth.
Accountability to our Life Skills Program reduces conflict within the family and increases the chance of a well-balanced recovery life while maintaining the client’s dignity. By allowing us to monitor and encourage change, this enables family members an opportunity to redevelop healthy relationships, while working on their own recovery plans.
